Correspondence; notes; presscuttings. The correspondence consists of 83 letters, of which 43 were written from 1907-1912 solely with reference to the Native Companion, a literary magazine edited by Brady in 1907. Some of the letters are appended by Brady's biographical notes on their authors. Included amongst the correspondents are Randolph Bedford, Zora Cross, Dulcie Deamer, Enid Derham, Alfred Dorrington, Lala Fisher, Hans Heysen, Will Lawson, Hugh McKay, Dorothea Mackellar, Walter Murdoch, Jack McLaren, A. B. Paterson, K. S. Prichard, Steele Rudd, Arthur Streeton, and Sydney Ure Smith. Notes on Australian writers, apparently by John Oscar Anchen. Presscuttings on Australian authors and reviews of their work, 1925-1958.

Became editor of the Australian Workman after the shipping strikes of 1890; published his first book of sea songs, The ways of many waters, 1849; 1901-3 edited the Grip in Grafton; 1904 became editor of The Australian Worker. Between 1902 and 1944, he published a number of books verse and prose, including Australia Unlimited (1918). From 1914 until his death he lived at Mallacoota, Vic.
